About the Position: This position is located a Fort Riley, Kansas. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Develop policies and provide program oversight and compliance of all provisions of privacy related federal legislation and DoD regulations.,Conduct research of laws and regulations, department directives, instructions, and other applicable guidance.,Provide consultations as necessary for responses on behalf of Senior Command Leadership to inquiries from representatives of Senior Elected Officials.,Coordinate and perform audits and reviews to prospectively test compliance with established HIPAA laws.,Oversee direct delivery of initial privacy training and orientation to the workforce to include all employees, volunteers, clinical staff, business associates, and other appropriate third parties at the Medical Treatment Facility.

Basic Requirement for GOVERNMENT INFORMATION SPECIALIST (PRIVACY/HIPAA): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with the administration and day-to-day operations of healthcare compliance or management programs; reviewing and auditing healthcare information or administrative records to ensure regulatory compliance; and collecting data and supporting reviews or investigations to recommend improvements to healthcare services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as, Health Information Management or Public Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
