We have a great opportunity for a proactive privacy professional to join our Data Privacy team and make a real impact. you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our data privacy strategy, in a fast-paced, innovative environment. This includes championing efficiency improvements and leveraging technology, including AI, to automate and scale data subject rights processes. With a strong grasp of corporate privacy and compliance obligations and practical experience in complex privacy programmes, you’ll ensure we stay ahead of legal developments, mentor others, and help evolve our processes to match our rapid growth.
This is a fixed term contract to cover a period of parental leave, starting in November 2025.
Here's the key skills, experience and competencies we're looking for you to bring:
- A strong understanding of corporate privacy and compliance obligations
- Depth of experience in data protection/privacy roles
- Experience managing privacy programmes in complex organisations
- Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR and emerging privacy legislation
- Experience leading change management and business transformation projects related to data privacy legislation
- Experience with privacy management platforms and tools
- Proven track record of managing regulatory relationships and investigations
- Experience in conducting privacy impact assessments and data mapping exercises
- Experience of risk assessment frameworks or broader information security (desirable)
- Professional qualification in data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) highly desirable
- An ability to manage and prioritise workloads whilst remaining flexible to meet tight deadlines
- Self-motivated and independent
- Strategic thinking and ability to translate privacy requirements into business solutions
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership. You'll leverage this skill to influence and drive change across the organisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to work independently while managing and motivating a small team
- Commercial awareness and understanding of the business impact of privacy decisions

Reporting to the DPO and Head of Data Privacy, you'll be joining a team of high-performing, Legal team who pride themselves on great relationships. You'll work with a range of stakeholders across the business, advising on and navigating the many privacy challenges involved in operating a multi-service, consumer-facing business.
Your key stakeholders will include colleagues across People, Customer Services, Technology, Marketing, Partners and Sales.
We deliver progress. What you’ll do and how you will make an impact
- Working with Product and Tech to identify, champion, and lead the rollout of technology and AI solutions that adapt and automate privacy processes (including data subject requests, incident management, and other compliance processes) to meet regulator expectations, drive operational efficiency, support organisational digitisation, and improve customer experience
- Accountability for the team managing incident investigations and reviews and data subject requests (DSARs, ESARs, erasure requests, objections, requests to port etc.) under the UK GDPR and UK Data Protection Act
- Advising the business on developments in data protection law, working with internal stakeholders to develop solutions and ensure compliance, with a particular focus on our Operations department
- Reviewing and supporting the business on embedding and evolving data retention and deletion practices
- Supporting specialised customer service requirements, including in relation to vulnerable customers
- Working alongside relevant teams such as Information Security, Fraud and Technology to identify the cause of privacy incidents and carry out risk assessments as well as advise the business on identity verification requirements
- Handling data subject and regulator complaints
- Managing PECR compliance reviews and regulatory reporting requirements
- Managing ICO registrations for Telecom Plus group companies
- Developing and reporting on privacy metrics and KPIs for board-level reports, Audit & Risk Committees, and other internal governance forums
- Overseeing the maintenance of the company’s data map and Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) programme
- Developing and implementing privacy policies and procedures
- Leading privacy training and awareness programmes across the business
Key projects will include:
- DSARs - Internal innovation of our in-house privacy management system
- Data Use and Access (DUA) Act - Developing and implementing complaints processes
- Energy regs - supporting regulatory developments/changes to the way in which data is shared across the industry
- Supporting the business as we transition to a new energy platform provider transformation
