Snowflake is seeking an experienced privacy attorney to help shape and mature our privacy program as we grow in size and expand our geographic footprint. This role calls for a self-motivated team player who can proactively manage multiple projects and lead cross-functional teams to operationalize privacy priorities. Superb written and verbal communication skills are critical for successfully conveying complex and nuanced issues to teams in a clear and concise manner. We are looking for someone with demonstrated skills and experience in global privacy laws who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact. This role focuses on supporting Snowflake’s global privacy program by analyzing global privacy laws and creating and executing programs across the organization that include AI/ML, EU-US Data Privacy Framework, Binding Corporate Rules, and Global Cookie compliance and will report to the Head of Privacy in the United States. This is an in-person role that can be based in Dublin (California), or Bellevue (Washington). This is not a remote position.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Partner closely with all of the departments across the organization that include Marketing, Sales, Procurement, Global Alliances, and Partnerships teams, as well as other business teams to provide practical and business-minded legal advice on privacy and data protection-related matters , developing and providing training, and emphasizing the importance of privacy while delivering practical and business-minded legal advice
  • Advise on privacy and legal issues, risks, and requirements
  • Develop and automate processes to scale efficiencies and privacy controls
  • Develop and iterate on privacy-related notices, policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Assist corporate, product, and marketing teams with developing marketing collateral to tell our privacy story
  • Research and evaluate the applicability and impact of global privacy laws, legislation and regulatory guidance
  • Advise on privacy requirements for new technologies

REQUIREMENTS :

  • 3-5 years of substantive privacy legal experience, preferably both in-house and at a law firm
  • Experience with EU and international privacy and data protection laws, regulations and standards
  • Experience with US State and Federal privacy laws and regulations
  • JD from an accredited law school, membership in at least one state bar, and the ability to practice in the jurisdiction in which this position is located
  • Ability to pragmatically weigh the risks and benefits of complex situations
  • Willing to take on new challenges and learn new technologies
  • A good sense of humor and passionate about privacy
