Our client, a large SaaS company with a global footprint, is seeking a Privacy Attorney to join the team on contract basis to support a growing privacy function with high visibility across the business. This role will support counseling the business, handling privacy contracts, and jumping in across the privacy ecosystem in support of business initiatives, reporting directly to the Chief Privacy Officer. The ideal candidate is a hands-on privacy professional, a junior privacy attorney with experience counseling the business, supporting contracts, and working across APIs, SaaS, or other tech-driven environments. Experience with OneTrust, NIST privacy frameworks, and a background in data broker or AdTech environments are strong pluses. Candidates must be licensed attorneys. This is a fully remote, long-term contract position (initially six months with the potential to extend).
What you will do:
Privacy Governance:
- Develops, maintains, and updates privacy policies, procedures, notices, authorization forms, and other documentation for the proper processing of personal data by business units, ensuring alignment with the implementation of personal data processing activities
- Supports company's response to privacy-related events, inquiries, and investigations
- Supports the intake, processing, and response of data subject questions and requests, including rights requests under GDPR, CCPA, and other regulations
- Designs and delivers employee privacy training and awareness campaigns
- Collaborates with business units and functional areas to conduct privacy assessments and develop corrective action plans for identified privacy compliance issues
- Remains current on relevant privacy, data security, and consumer protection laws and regulations and industry standards and best practices
- Supports other privacy program operations as needed
- Partners with commercial counsel and procurement to support commercial agreements and vendor management to include B2B and B2C data processing agreements, both customer and vendor-facing, including DPAs, privacy policies, TOS, and EULAs
- Assists with acquisition due diligence and integration activities
- Provides legal, privacy and data security guidance and counselling to multiple business and functional teams from the initial stages of product development to launch to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Other duties may be assigned
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and licensed in good standing to practice law
- Some data privacy, protection, and security experience, preferably in an in-house legal department of a technology company
- Knowledge of state, federal, and international privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices
- Experience with privacy in Internet or high-tech companies providing solutions to enterprise customers
- Familiarity with data partnerships, data broker requirements, and geolocation data use
- Efficient project management combined with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work both independently and cross functionally
- Travel requirements: Occasional travel may be required for company meetings
