The Data Privacy Associate/ Paralegal will be a member of Visa’s Global Privacy Office. It will report to the Senior Counsel in the Global Privacy Office and involve work across the Europe region. As part of this fun, supportive and hard-working team, this role will be involved in strategic and tactical initiatives driving Visa’s business growth and innovation strategy. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day privacy support to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct legal research into a variety of topics and producing clear, concise updates and guidance.
- Play an important role in Visa’s fulfilment of data subject access requests, applying legal concepts.
- Perform data privacy assessments for key Visa suppliers and maintain legally required records.
- Administration and management of data privacy-related registrations and other key functions.
- Support Global Privacy Office lawyers (including the European Data Protection Officer) on complex legal queries and strategic priorities.
- Working with the broader Global Privacy Office and Legal, Regulatory and Compliance team to find synergies and efficiencies.
- Engaging with other departments as appropriate, including supplier management.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Essential Qualifications:
- Hold a university law degree.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills along with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrable analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as on own initiative.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise and manage a varied and busy workload.
- Positive attitude, high level of integrity and intellectual curiosity: a willingness to learn new skills and take on greater levels of responsibility.
- Fluent in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at a recognised law firm and/or in-house legal environment.
- Prior data privacy experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge and enthusiasm for the fintech and payments industry.
- Data privacy master or certifications (for example, International Association of Privacy Professionals CIPP/E)) considered an asset.
- Additional European languages a plus.
