Our client, a leading law firm in the privacy and data protection space, is seeking a Contract Senior Privacy Attorney to support its U.S. privacy practice with a focus on CCPA and other state-level regulations. This role involves taking on high-level privacy matters, providing practical legal guidance, and operating independently to alleviate workload from senior team members. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in U.S. privacy laws and, ideally, experience advising on privacy in product development. Candidates must be barred in a state where the firm has an office, including AL, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, MA, NY, NC, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, or WA.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Admission to bar in state of practice
- Significant legal experience, including experience working in-house, either as a full-time employee or secondee
- Familiarity with key U.S. and global privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act/California Privacy Rights Act, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Colorado Privacy Act, and EU General Data Protection Regulation
- Experience conducting privacy risk assessments and working with clients to document data flows and related requirements
- Experience drafting and negotiating data sharing contracts, including negotiating data protection addendums
- Experience developing and leading training for junior associates
- Telecommunications industry experience preferred
- CIPP/US certification is strongly preferred
