Summary

This position is located in the Railroad Retirement Board's Bureau of Information Services. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Chief Privacy Officer in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the agency's privacy and safeguarding programs. This job announcement may be used to fill one or more vacancies. This is a bargaining unit position. This position is represented by the Council of AFGE Locals in the Board.

Duties

As a Privacy Act Specialist, you will: Assist the Chief Privacy Officer in coordinating, implementation and compliance monitoring with agency privacy and safeguarding programs. Assist with IRS Federal Tax Information safeguarding and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) compliance programs. Assists in analyzing and evaluating agency programs and initiatives to ensure that the use of technologies support, and do not erode, privacy protections related to the use, collection, safeguarding and disclosure of personal or sensitive information. Supports the Chief Privacy Officer in implementing and monitoring Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and privacy engineering controls to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with Federal privacy and cybersecurity requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for GS-12 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is: Assisting with the planning, coordination, and monitoring of Federal privacy and safeguarding requirements. Contributing to the development and maintenance of technical, physical, and administrative safeguards for FTI, CUI, and sensitive information. Preparing or reviewing privacy compliance documentation (such as PTAs, PIAs, SORNs, CMAs, and information-sharing agreements). Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
